You can control the database display by using the button controls located at the center-bottom of each record display page. These controls bring you either to the beginning
of the database by clicking on the "First" button located at the bottom of the records display (the first ten records are displayed) or to the end of the database records by clicking on the "Last" button, in which case the last ten records in the database are displayed. You can move forward in the database one page at a time (each page displays ten records) by clicking on the "Next" button, or backwards one page at a time in the database by clicking on the "Previous" button. Click on any of the clipboard titles below for the type of data you would like displayed. The database field names equate as follows:

VetsLastName: Veteran's Last Name VetsFirstName: Veteran's First Name VetsMI: Veteran's Middle Initial
VetsNickName: Veteran's Nick Name VetsStatus: KIA=Killed in Action, ND=Natural Death, OK=Living, UNK=Unknown UnitShipAssignedTo: The unit or ship to which the veteran was assigned.
DayAssigned: The day vet was assigned to his unit. MonthAssigned: The numerical month in which the vet was assigned to his unit. YearAssigned: The year in which the veteran was assigned to his unit.
StartDateCertain: Is the assignment date factual=YES, or a guess, an estimate=NO. EndAssignmentDay: The day the veteran left their assignment. EndAssignmentMonth: The numerical month the veteran left their assignment.
EndAssignmentYear: The year during which the Veteran left their assignment. EndAssignmentDateCertain: Is the end of assignment date factual=YES, or a guess, an estimate=NO RegisteredByLastName: The last name of the person registering the veteran in the database.
RegisteredByFirstName: The first name of the person registering the veteran in the database. RelationshiptoVet: The relationship of the person registering the veteran to the veteran. EmailAddress: The email address of the person registering the veteran.
Comments: Added information regarding the veteran or their entry. TimeStamp: The date and time of the original veteran's entry.  

 

Short Form Listing

Every record in the database is displayed sorted alphabetically, 10 records at a time on each page in a vertical "list" format, with all data collected from the registration form.

Table Listing

Every record in the database is displayed at the same time in a table format, sorted alphabetically by last name.

Search By Last Name

You can either type a veteran's last name or part of the last name in the search entry text box and all records matching your entry from the Amchitka WWII Veterans Database will be displayed. If no records appear, then there was no match to the database. To test, type either "blair" or, for example, "Bl" in the search box, then click on the "Submit" button.

Search by Unit or Ship

You do not have to type in the complete unit or ship name, only a few characters can be used to implement a search and return results based upon the unit or ship name entered into the search text box.

Display By Timestamp

This view displays all records in a list format, 10 records per page, sorted by time/date. Most current records are displayed first.
