In 1943 his unit was done away with and he was shipped to Camp Chaffee for retraining then shipped to an Infantry outfit in Italy and stayed their until the end of World War in Europe. He was discharged from service in August of 1945.

He was a telephone lineman before & after the war, and in the signal corps, I think. He was quite the photographer; many of himself and some in color. There were other men in some of the photos - even a captured Japanese soldier. There were also things I now realize that he did NOT say about his assignment. It must have been very difficult for a boy from Pahokee, FL! My sisters and I still miss Daddy.....

Laid low there, saw distant unknown aircraft on occasion, located and rescued by friendly aircraft from PATWING4 on 24/25 June 1942 No casualties.
