He served in the Aluetians during WW2 and was partially diasabled from his services. He died before my 3rd birthday and I never really got to know much about him or what he did during the war. I now he was at Dutch Harbor, Amchictha and other places there. I read the Thousand Mile War and realize how little honor and recognition men like my father received for their service. In 1943 his unit was done away with and he was shipped to Camp Chaffee for retraining then shipped to an Infantry outfit in Italy and stayed their until the end of World War in Europe. He was a telephone lineman before & after the war, and in the signal corps, I think. He was quite the photographer; many of himself and some in color. There were other men in some of the photos - even a captured Japanese soldier. There were also things I now realize that he did NOT say about his assignment. Then they stayed on Amchitka 2 years, Left My uncle eMaster Sgt. Waymon Tindll was ther too. Same unit , My dad was a cook 60 and Uncle Waymon worked on the airfields, airport, the Alcan highway.
