I was stationed there from 1966-1967 as a sa sn and then in the radio room to fill in cause we were short one room for six months. Didn't know the station was still manned 'till I found this link.

I was on ATTU in september of 2009 doing some work at Lorain station, I thank the men that fought on this desolate island, I stood at massacare bay and thought about how horrible the conditions must have been for the men that fought and died there. MANY THANKS.

My dad,Bob Wright AKA "Tennessee" worked on the Alcan Hwy as a civilian from the beginning to the end. He was then sent to the Aleutians. In 1945 he was on Attu. When dependents were allowed to join their men, my mother, sister and I joined my dad on Attu in November 1946. We spent a year there and were then transfered to Adak. I vivid memories of Attu. I would like very much to visit with someone who might be able to fill in some of the gaps. Glad I found this site. Thanks |

I worked at Attu during 9/11/01, I was there with the USAF as a contractor working out of det 460, the CG guys and 1 gal treated us great! I enjoyed my time there and got to do a fair bit of exploration found some interesting items, the island reminds me of a wetter colder ascension island with a good amount of WWII stuff out for finding.Ill always remember where i was during 9/11. Presently in afghanistan working to eliminate that issue happening again.

Thank you to all the men & women who served in this awful time & place. I have artifacts from Attu I'd like to place in a relevant museum. NOT FOR SALE AT ANY PRICE. I would love to hear your stories. Especially if you knew ALEXANDER M GONDELA. A friend of mine has items in his possession. A rendering of Attu, in 1945, a letter ( Proclaimation ? ) stating dates of service & an announcement of his death, his stars & his casket flag. (224) 633-8241 I'd be honored to hear your stories. PLEASE
