My Father, Carl C. Kohnert, was stationed on Attu Island circa 1943-1946. I hope anyone that sees this that knew my Father will respond by email to fkohnert@aol.com.

I landed on Attu on Dec. 7, 1945 and left in Feb. 1947. I was in the Marine MP detachment and patrolled the island as our job as MP's. We had every other day duty and worked on our days off from patrol. We cleaned our barracks and guard house up from camouflage to white. I loved that duty and the area.

My Dad was at Adak during the aleutian campaign, Sgt Zane Phillips. He was in the artillery which as I understand it, wasn't very useful considering the tundra and all. He has some great stories about the difficulties and the lighter side of his time there. He also has some nice photographs. If anyone is interested e-mail me and I'll get you in contact with him.
