Comments: The 1st Bat. had 90mm guns, we in the 2nd Bat. had 40mm AA guns. I believe there were 3 planes (not 2) that crashed on the mountain side. Tony Potski and I climbed the mountain and found one of them. A deceased pilot was still sitting in the plane. I believe his name was Henderson. I hope they found and removed his body. I still wonder about that all these years. We could, from the captured higher altitude Japanese foxholes, see our troops through the fog down below in the valley. It was really weird. I'm also looking for a Ken Lynch from Delano, CA. I'm not online, but anyone can mail me at:

Comments: Woody's ship was the USS Zzelain. The spelling of the ship's name is in doubt, but Woody remembers that the spelling had two "z's." Woody is still active and spends some of his spare time cutting hair in a barber shop. I became aware of Woody's service on Attu because while he was cutting my hair, I mentioned to him that I had lived on Attu from January 1947 to October 1947 as an "Army Brat."

Comments: My dad served on Kiska and Attu. He was the lone survivor in his tent when the Japanese attacked. He was an ammo handler, medical aidman, and truck driver.
