You can control the database display by using the button controls located at the center-bottom of each record display page. These controls bring you either to the beginning
of the database by clicking on the "First" button located at the bottom of the records display (the first ten records are displayed) or to the end of the database records by clicking on the "Last" button, in which case the last ten records in the database are displayed. You can move forward in the database one page at a time (each page displays ten records) by clicking on the "Next" button, or backwards one page at a time in the database by clicking on the "Previous" button. Click on any of the clipboard titles below for the type of data you would like displayed. The database field names equate as follows:

Short Form Listing

Every record in the Attu Veterans database is displayed sorted alphabetically, 10 records at a time on each page in a vertical "list" format.

Long Form Table List

Every record in the Attu Veterans database is displayed at the same time in a single table format, sorted alphabetically by last name.

May 1943 Assignments

This selection filters the records so that only records showing an assignment date to Attu of May, 1943 will display from the Attu Veterans database. Here you can see those that were directly committed to "The Battle of Attu."

Battle of Attu; KIA

This selection filters the WWII Attu Veteran's Database for records having "KIA" as the veteran's status. Please also visit the Attu KIA page containing a complete listing of all KIAs.

Search By Unit or Ship

You do not have to type in the complete unit or ship name, only a few characters can be used to implement a search in the Attu Veterans database and return results based upon the unit or ship name (or partial name) entered into the search text box.

Search By Last Name

You can either type a veteran's last name or part of the last name in the search entry text box and all records matching your entry from the Attu Veterans database will be displayed. If no records appear, then there was no match to a record in the database.

Timestamp Sort

This selection sorts the data by timestamp, the information that pertains to the date and time the record entry was made, with the newest timestamps being displayed first. Note: recent transport of the databases to the new web server has resulted in older record's timestamps having become invalid. I've entered the original timestamps from the old record entries into the "Comments" section of each record. Records not having a timestamp entry in the comments section are new, with new valid timestamps. These timestamps are based upon EST.
