Shemya Cleanup!

The environmental cleanup of Shemya Island continues. The 611th Civil Engineer Environmental Restoration Office continues to manage cleanup efforts with oversight provided by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC). 	1. This is a small (28kB) black and white image of Shemya island as it existed in the late 1930's or early 1940's. Suitable for downloading with 56k Modems.
	2. This is a large black and white image (178kB) of subject photo #1, and will take a few minutes to download using a 56k Modem...but worth the wait.
	3. This is a small (28kB) colorized version of the Shemya Island photos. Nadine Smith of HLS Systems prepared this rendition for the Aleutians Web Site. Our thanks to Nadine for a wonderful job of bringing Shemya back to life as it might have been in its pre-WWII days.
