4000 MILES FROM HOME
|
| On March 1st, 1953, there was a population of 40
people occupying the fog-enshrouded, windy, rainy, snowy island of
Shemya. An unknown reporter along with a staff artist named Robert
Juffras put together an article along with maps and photos of Shemya
telling their story. There are three JPG files which comprise the
total of this article. Page 1 actually consists of two parts, 1a and
1b as it was too long for the scanner to capture on a single pass.
Page 1b fits on the bottom of page 1a. Page 2 is a single...but wide...page,
which connects to the right of page 1a (in case you want to print, cut, and paste these together, or just fit in your mind how this article was presented). Click on the buttons below to see each of these pages. |
