I was stationed on this lovely island 1993-1994, some of the best and worst times of my life. Great website - love seeing the pics.

I flew many hours on the airlift with 426 rcaf sqn as loadmaster. No one will believe me we went over the pacific at 8000 ft and returned at 9000 ft some awful trips with weather.

I started my tour at Shemya in October of 1966. I worked for HRB Singer, Inc. and supported the US Air Force mission for Wanda Bell, and Ball, Brass and one other aircraft. I left in December of 1967.

I was stationed on Shemya from Jan 76 to Jan 77. I was the Medic during that time. I was refred to as Big Jim & I often talk about Shemya to my friends. I'll be more than happy to send you some pictures that I took while I was there.

Many memories of my 12 month "sentence" of Sep 62-Sep 63. Good friends made under adverse conditions. Walked the beaches at night & crawled back to the composite building from the theater when windy. When departing I promised: Never Again!

Rick, good to see this part of the site. My Dad knew a guy by the name of "Bud" Hunter who worked for NW on Shemya, sometime after the war. I was also stationed on Shemya '68-'69 in the Air Force.

Hi Ken ; . I enjoyed your pics of Shemya from the 5o's. In your scrapbook I noticed on pic #40 I can see on top of the bluff the radar of my old out fit when I was there in 1946. . I hope you check the guest book often to see my post. Bob
