In 1998, I began my project of collecting stories from World War 2 veterans and their families for the purposes of preserving and documenting information for future generations to learn. One day, all this information will be donated to the General Patton Memorial Museum.
If you are interested in sharing your story, please contact me.

Gee whiz, with all of the men who served on Umnak Island you would think that this site would be humming with men looking for comrads.
So I am asking for men who served as radar operator on Umnak and elswhere on the Aleutian chain to stand up and identify themselves, Please.

In an old WWII scrapbook, I found the words to a song called "Deep in the Heart of Umnak", dated 5 July 1943. Says author unknown. Clearly a soldier's knock off of "Deep in the Heart of Texas". Will mail you a copy if you send me your address. Thanks.
