Late at night
When it's still daylight,
Deep in the heart of Umnak,
There's nothing to do,
but hunt Caribou,
Deep in the heart of Ummak.

2

The fog hangs low,
Along the snow,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
Every stream
In a fisherman's dream,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

3

Over the trails we go
Along in the snow,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
A full field pack
Will break our back
Deep in the heath of Umnak.

4

Our only truck,
Is covered with muck,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
The driver's out of luck,
Because he's stuck,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

5

Scotty had to wee
But couldn't find a tree,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
The poor little pup,
Had to give up,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

6

There's no such thing
As love in the spring,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
The enlisted men are blue,
And the Lieutenants are too,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

7

There's no women to be seen
Excepting in dreams,
Deep in the heart of Umnak
We think an awful lot,
But thinking is not so hot
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

8

The Doc doesn't know
When a guy is really low,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
If you take the pills they give,
It's a cinch you're not going to live,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

9

If Japs come at night,
Sure that is alright,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.
We all want to fight,
But the Major says hike,
Deep in the heart of Umnak.

10

We're waiting for the day
When we'll sail away,
From deep in the heart of Umnak.
When we get home,
We'll never more roam,
DEEP INTO THE HEART OF UMNAK.
