I was a dependent at Adak from 70 - 73. Had a great time at Adak high and generally loved life on the island. It was a great place to be a teenager being far from the problems other teens were going through at the time in the lower forty-eights. I returned as a PC crewman in VP-47 in the 80's |

I was on Adak from '78 till '79 and it was really beautiful. Had our own Hut and ate way too much Salmon. We used to catch them when they got caught in small pools when they were spawning. Loved the earthquakes and the occasional eruptions from Mt. Sitka. In a way.., I actually miss the place.

I was stationed there from January 1986 to March 1987. My previous duty station before Adak was Diego Garcia ... quite a change in climate. From Adak I transferred to NAS Corpus Christi, Texas ... again, big change in climate. Didn't particularly enjoy my tour in Adak because my office was severely undermanned and I was going through a divorce. But, did make a beautiful friend, Debbie Comer, whom I will always remember.

I was stationed there from april 75 to april 76. I worked in the p.w tire shop, WC 88 with j.d murrey, EO1 Ike. Last job was driving station bus. Met a lot of cool people there. That was the only thing good about adak. The food sucked!

My father, cpo (radioman) Dan N.Geiger Merchant marine/navy served @1945-46? at Radio City on Adak. From his photos this appears a very rustic place back then.
