I was on Adak in 1972-73 at the Hospital.
I fondly remember my tour and wish I could visit one more time.

Adak was a mystery and culture shock to me. As a child of nine when we moved there in 1969 from Orange County, California, I was amazed at the difference. It took about one hour to fall in love with the Island and its surroundings. I truly wish my family has a chance to go there someday.

My Dad served on Adak with the 179th Station Hospital from 1942-1945. I would love to hear from anyone who served or relatives of those who served there. He never forgot the people he served with.

Visited Adak as an Alaska State Trooper. I responded to a sinking of a fishing vessel in the area with loss of life. Being a Navy veteran myself but never stationed in Adak, I was dismayed to see the base closed with so much history slowly fading away. This place surely is very beautiful and nature is very majestic. I am hapy to know that I will continue to come back and get to know this remote outpost.
