I'm was born and raised in AK, joined the military and haven't been back in 10 years. Never in my 18 years there did I hear of Ft. Glenn, not until I checked out Foxnews.com this morning. :) I'm glad no one was hurt during the eruption. Y'all must be getting a lot of internet traffic...people trying to research Fort Glenn, as I did. I look forward to seeing pics of the eruption, as I haven't had the opportunity to search the internet yet. Take care.

Hello, I am thrilled to find this connection with my grandfather. I have been going through family albums and found many from Attu during WW2. My Grandfather, whom I never met as he died before I was born, was Walter J Field. Many of his pictures have AoM3c written behind his name. Can anyone help me with what this means? Also I have MANY pictures of him and his "pals" as he has written on the back. I will gladly share via scanning if that is allowed.
Thank you.

My uncle, Merrill LaFontaine, was assigned as a civilian member of the Army Corps of Engineers, to work on various projects in the Aleutians during 1942-1944. I am looking for any information about him or where he might have been stationed. Thanks.

I was an Airborne Communications Specialist assigned to Eielson AFB where we rotated in and out of Shemya 2 weeks out of every 6 from 1976 to 1981 to support Cobra Ball. We had the blue fox in the hangar with us and occasionally would come to our living areas. Our flight crews left thier gear staged next to the aircraft. You learned quickly to leave food for the foxes or they would leave you a treat. They liked to whiz and poop in your gear including your helmet if you failed to leave morsels.

My grandfather, Charles Eugene Gleason (my dad's adoptive father, whom I got my middle name from) was stationed in the Aleutian Island during WWII. I have an entire photo album (with many colorized photos). Is there any where I can share them once I get them all scanned? I don't know much about his time there.
