the
exact time of year the trees turn color largely
depends upon the weather and the altitude at which
the trees exist. Some years at any given altitude we
have early winters, other years we have late
winters. You can usually count on good viewing from
approximately the middle of September to the middle
of October. If we get a late winter, then you can
extend these days out a little further.
There
are many really nice spots to view the Aspens in the
fall, one of them of course being along the service
road 82 to Aspen, CO. My favorite viewing spot is
along Highway 119 from Highway 6 to
Nederland, CO.
The best Aspen
viewing dates in 2001 was from the 21st of September through 7 Oct 2001.
These best viewing times vary slightly each year around these dates.
You will also be
able to view the tremendous Pine Beetle kills in many of Colorado's
forests. Pine trees having a reddish tint more than likely are victims
