Having picked up our Casita RV at Rice, TX on the 28th of April 2011, and having test-camped at Corsicana, TX (11 miles south of Rice) "American RV Park" about 5 miles west of Corsicana, we headed north to Amarillo, TX on the morning of the 30th of April, 2011, arriving at Amarillo around 1400 hrs that afternoon.

The weather was a bit overcast, cool, and windy with some rain experienced over the next two days. The wind picked up our small folding camp table early one morning...and blew it down the road. I was out chasing it with bare feet, along with our two folding camp chairs. Managed to catch up with all if it, but only after the table lost two legs in the process. Ended up supergluing them back together.

This was our really first camping experience outside the sphere of the Casita factory's influence! We were really on our own here. However, each campsite always had some folks present that had lots of experience RV'ing, and were always ready and willing to help if we had problems.

We got picked up by one of the Big Texan Restaurant's Limosines on Sunday, 1 May 2011, and had wonderful steak dinners at the restaurant. Nadine ordered a 20oz steak, and I ordered an 8oz Fillet...both were excellent. I followed up my smaller steak with Black Forest Cake...enough calories to blow a week's diet! So...I ate only about a third of it, and brought the rest home for later snacking!

On the campground property was this old truck, probably a derelict from Hwy 66. Looks like it was a great RV at one time...had a tub, and a built-in wash machine!

We departed Amarillo on the following Monday, 2 May 2011, at around 0800 hrs.
