After waiting three months for the Casita trailer to be built, we finally got the call from Casita that we could pick it up on the 28th of April. Our original delivery date estimate was in late June.

We left home on our 800+ mile trip to Corsicana, TX, the closest location with a hotel near Rice, TX where the Casita trailers are built. We took two days getting there, stopping in Amarillo, TX Best Western the first night. Winds were blowing 50mph that day in Amarillo!

The second day out, the 27th of April, we arrived at Corsicana, TX and stayed at the La Quinta of the few hotels that are "pet friendly."

On the 28th, bright and early in the morning, we drove the 11 miles or so north to Rice, TX and the Casita plant. We spent the morning there absorbing instructions on how to work the trailer parts and completing the final transactions.

Around noon on the 28th we drove back to Corsicana, TX and registered at the American RV Park located around 5 miles or so west of Corsicana town center. This was our first RV trailer camping experience. We spent the rest of the 28th and all of the 29th testing everything we could (or knew how) associated with the trailer.

On the 29th we broke camp and tested our skills backing up to and hitching to the trailer. Was a bit intimidating that first time! At last, we were on the road with our Casita, heading towards Amarillo where we stayed at the Amarillo RV Ranch...and celebrated our new acquisition and life style at the Big Texan Restaurant by downing a couple of relatively speaking small steaks!
