R. Carlos Nakai

R. Carlos Nakai is master of the Native American flute. Of Navajo-Ute heritage, he was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, with a profound musical gift.

In his distinguished career, Nakai has recorded and performed extensively in Native American styles as well as in jazz, folk, new age, and other diverse genres. His debut solo album, "Changes," was released by Canyon Records in 1983 and was followed by dozens of other recordings, including "Canyon Trilogy" and "Earth Spirit," both certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Nakai's exquisite flute playing has been featured in opera, film soundtrakcs, and orchestral works. In creative leaps of musicality, he has collaborated with artists such as guitarist William Eaton and composer Phililp Glass.
