[Notes: The information about Allan and his pictures were contributed by Allan's daughter, Jean Moore Beach, with help from her husband Paul. This information is "as is." While Jean is continuing to do research regarding Allan's service career, Jean cannot provide additional information above and beyond what is here at this time. As Allan has passed away, Jean cannot confirm or provide details beyond what she has already provided here. As additional information becomes available, we will update Allan's scrapbook page to include any new findings. If you have new or corrected information above and beyond what is here, please share it with either Jean or our webmaster.] Allan was with the 7th Infantry Div., confirmed by his separation papers. His MOS was 915, which translates to "ARTILLERY MECHANIC/HEAVY-ANTI-AIRCRAFT." He repaired a variety of guns, including captured weapons that were taken so they could not be used by again by the “Jap's." Allan left for the Aleutians on April 1st, 1943. Prior to that he was with the 302nd Ordnance Regiment, 1st Battalion, Fort Ord, California. At Fort Ord and into the Aleutians Allan was known as "The Cosmolene Kid," and the men who worked with him were "The Cosmolene Commandoes.” From there Allan went on to England January 1944, Normandy, Northern France, The Rhineland, Central Europe. Still with Ordnance fixing weapons to get back to the men who needed them so desperately. Even though he was behind the lines he worked 16+ hours a day to get weapons back to "the boys," sometimes working 24 hours straight. The Ordnance was spoke of "little" but they had a job to do and they did it with pride for the men at the front and their country (Jean found references to Ordnance from "Ernie's War" pg 506, and in "Praise To The Ordnance").
